What is "Green"?

There are many meanings behind the expression "Green" and "Eco-Friendly". It can be about recycling and reducing our carbon footprint or about our health or the use of our resources, like energy and gas, and how we conserve them for future generations. At Studio Marler our main focus  for green is how we use our plentiful resources in a responsible way, all while providing a clean healthy environment in which to live.

It means providing healthier closets, vanities, media systems, home offices, and kitchens by designing with quality building products. What this means to you and your family is better indoor air quality, an environmentally-friendly product, and a cabinet that can stand the test of time and everyday use.

 Cabinetry Components

  • The Substrates are built with a variety of sustainable design board panels (SDP); utilizing one of the world's lowest emitting binding agents with no added urea-formaldehyde.

  • The Color and Finish As the area that can produce the highest level of toxic emissions, Studio Marler takes care in providing water-based stains and finishes, baked-on, for the strength of conversion varnish without the indoor air quality issues. Contrary to traditional hard wax oils, Studio Marler's oil based finish is 100% VOC free, water and heat resistant to 300 degrees Celsius. It is also repairable locally.

  • The Exterior Wood, Utilizing managed forests and FSC Certified Lumber as requested, the Company continually works to source materials from like-minded companies.

Our Look and Feel

Exterior wood gives your cabinets the feel you are looking to achieve. These solid wood choices range from Cherry to Beech or Maple, with many stain options available. In all cases, there is an option to use FSC Certified Lumber. We also recommend our reconstituted veneers. These are made with a water soluable dye, which completely penetrates the wood, giving a complete color change and replication of the "real thing”.

Studio Marler is also proud to offer strong, durable and environmentally friendly Bamboo in three natural colors - Chocolate, Amber and Natural. Fast to regenerate, Bamboo can be continuously re-harvested every 3 years, without causing damage to the plant system and surrounding environment.

The color or stain is about the finished exterior material. In a cabinet there is the inside and outside finish. Our standard interior is maple print, which is a water-based dye colored with the look of maple. We use this for a smooth, easy to clean interior.
