Dealer and Job Spotlight: HW Construction

Clients looking to bump out their house and turn their tiny, tiny kitchen into a place where their entire extended family could hang out for the weekends, turned to HW Construction in Walnut Creek for help. Hugh Walpole and his partner, Ed Cunningham, saw the project as one with great potential for a beautiful outcome. They called in the designers from Studio Marler to work with the family on developing the space.

The clients were clear that the room needed two areas for sitting, two or more areas for food preparation and a large cooking surface. Every other weekend saw their large extended family join them, and everyone liked to cook, or at least participate in the bustle of the preparation.

After searching through a large selection of appliances the 48" Wolfe range was chosen giving the room its center piece. From this range the cabinet layout developed with two islands, a banquet for seating and a communications center for iPod, phone plug-ins and shoe removal. The clients chose three different door styles with three different stains, two different counter tops and custom designed tiles on the mantel of the hood.
