Belgian Colonial
Ruhengeri, Rwanda
Working with the client we designed a home reminiscent of a the Belgium colonial style of an era long past. The long back porch is situated to allow the views of all five volanoes in the area. The large house has three bedrooms all ensuite with a living room, dining area and office. The second house on the property has two ensuite bedrooms, a living area and small kitchen. Both houses have fireplaces for the cold evenings. The houses were styled with colonial style furniture to capture a real feeling of being in Africa of yesteryear.
The back porch gives a view of the pool, the tennis court and the volcanoes.

A New Restaurant in Ruhengeri
A new restaurant with all-things-Rwanda delivered for the guest experience. Working with the clients we developed a budget-friendly, made-in-Rwanda restaurant for their guests. Loving this place as you always know what country you’re in. Peace trays float and sway from the ceiling, comfortable sofas have wooden side tables, and zebra print leather benches finish the space. We also divided the restaurant from the lounge with our original designed metal and glass room dividers.
Five Volcanoes Boutique Hotel
Ruhengeri, Rwanda
Small, 17-room hotel in three buildings with restaurant, spa and pool area. The concept was to provide a first class stay utilizing local products and labour. Our firm provided interior design, procurement and oversite. We continue to work with the client as they upgrade and adjust on their hotel.

These beautiful vistas deserve a beautiful home. Working with a team from South Africa, Studio Marler created lovely spaces for this generational home. Work included designing the kitchens, bathrooms, home theater and guest house.
Apartment Staging in Nairobi
New apartments can sometimes be hard to rent out when there are so many on the market. A company in Nairobi asked us to stage one of theirs to do some publicity photos prior to their opening. For this unit we borrowed furniture from Odds & Ends in Nairobi. This turned out beautifully.

Serene Crest Apartments

Serene Crest is a 23-unit condominium building with a small pool. The units of two and three-bedroom ensuites were detailed with many products selected from China. Custom cabinetry, large walk-in showers, and beautiful wood-tile flooring make this a giant step above many homes in the area.
